Affortunato Gory was an Italian sculptor active from 1895 to 1925, when he died in Paris.
Originally from Florence, he studied sculpture there at the Academy under the direction of Auguste Rivalta.
Gory, like many Italian artists, emigrated to Paris at the beginning of the 20th century to practice his art.
He changed his name from Fortunato Gori to Affortunato Gory and began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1902 with a Bust of a woman executed in bronze and marble.
He will present his works there until 1923.
Gory owes his success to his feminine sculptures and the combined use of materials such as bronze and marble, alabaster or ivory.
