La statua è intagliata con grande maestria, con una felice sintesi fra realtà ed astrazione ed una notevole resa espressiva, ottimo esempio del gusto del periodo gotico francese.

The scene is composed with Jesus tied to a tree, at the mercy of the soldier represented in the act of flogging the Redeemer.
